As a photographer, who loves capturing the most empowered portraits of you and someone on a personal growth journey myself, I love sharing what inspires and motivates me in hopes that it does the same to others. Today, I’m sharing a few things to make our daily practices more enjoyable.
Sometimes we get bored. We get bored of the same things over and over again: routines, to-dos, and obligations. We start complaining, stop appreciating all we have, and get into a rut. Being uninspired, bored, and ungrateful is not a great place to be. Our job is to find motivation to live life to the fullest and to find meaning in ordinary tasks every day. To find meaning in Tuesdays and Thursdays. To be in it, to enjoy it. Not just to wait for weekends, vacations and getaways, but to create joy and savor every day. Still, travel does ignite a drive to uplevel your living, but our task is to upkeep that drive on ordinary, rainy Wednesdays. Here are ways on how to keep inspired daily:
Create small rituals for yourself to enjoy regularly.
It does not have to be something time-consuming; it can simply be the first sip of coffee, where you just take in all the surroundings, make a moment for your mind to wander, to be still, and to simply enjoy.
Use cooking time as meditation.
I love cooking more and more, especially after getting inspired to be healthier, to eat plenty of veggies and fruit, and to make my family’s diet as nutrient-rich as possible. As many of us cook daily, it’s such a simple yet profound practice to look at this task as meditation.
Declutter!
It’s so satisfying. Get rid of expired beauty products, unnecessary plastic, anything that you don’t use. Make your spaces airy, comfortable, and less cluttered. It really helps add quality and ease to your life.
Make simple everyday tasks meaningful by giving full attention to everything you do.
Wash dishes and do work around the house with extra care and attention. Giving the smallest tasks your full focus is rewarding. It is a reflection of being mindful. In the book L’art de la simplicité by Dominique Loreau, the author declares that “Mindfulness opens the doors to immense reserves of creativity, intelligence, determination, and wisdom.” And it is so true, as practicing to fully be here and now with small tasks allows you to build a muscle to be here and now for the big moments—for your daughter’s heartfelt hug—and not to miss life.
Nowadays, with Instagram in our lives, we do a lot of comparing. We get jealous, and the grass seems greener somewhere else. But actually, the grass is greener where you water it, truly. You can always seek inspiration in other people’s lives and see what mindful habits you can apply to your own. But make your own life extraordinary. Make the mundane fun, the boring exciting. A Wednesday into a Friday. It’s all up to us. Learning to appreciate and enjoy daily tasks, devoting full attention to them, provides meaning as well as a sense of peace in my life. And if you haven’t made the ordinary fun yet, I hope you find inspiration to do so and to ignite some magic into your life.
